[3.3.x] Support Forum • I have a few questions that I'm unable to find answers to on here (that work for me!)

Hi there!

I am a total newbie when it comes to creating my own forum using phpBB, although I have used very similar forums for many years off and on.

I spent all day yesterday trying to find answers but I am having great difficulty finding any for some issues I'm facing. Here are the things I am trying to do, but can't seem to find a way of doing...

1, I would like to change the banner at the top of my screen for my own image. But I have no idea how big that image should be and how I can get it to display.

2, I would like to have a smaller image (or icon) next to the Forum text. For example: I would like a small "For Sale" image next to the text on my "For Sale" forum. (I have uploaded a small image but it doesn't display! It only shows some extra text "No unread posts." (If I remove the image, that text also dissappears!)

3, I would like to make the whole 'wasted space' around the outside of the pages more like this Support screen (grey, instead of white). However, I have no idea how to do this.

4, I would like to separate my list of forums (like the index of this site) but cannot find a way

5, I would also like to know what the "CATEGORY" does when selected (instead of Link or Forum), because all I see happening is the damn thing just hides away, that's it!!

I hope somebody out there can let me know (in very simple terms!) how I can do these few little things. Thanks for reading, and I will really appreciate any good (simple to understand) answers.
